4 Ways the Holy Spirit Guides Us

Before he ascended to heaven, Jesus promised to send us an Advocate, a Helper who would always be with us.

“But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” John 16:7

Gods Spirit is with you each and every second of every day. He is only a prayer away.

1. He guides us to the truth: The bible teaches that Jesus is Truth, and the Truth can set us free; free from sin, death, loneliness. Free from anything that is contrary to His word. We find the truth by allowing the Holy Sprit to guide us to the truth about Jesus; that is, He came to be our Saviour. The Spirit will also guide us in our lives as we seek Him through prayer.

Read – John 16:13  “However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth…”

2. He guides us away from sin: Through prayer, our powerful communication tool that enables us to hear from God, we are able to be led by the Spirit. The lust of the flesh includes all sins that would have us following our earthly desires (money, greed, pride, lust etc.). When we are walking with the Spirit, He will guide us into Godly pursuits.

Read Galatians 5:16 “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

3. He guides us to our Purpose: When we seek God, He will reveal our giftings; the talents we have to help others, and fulfil our missions. For some that means teaching, for others it means a career where we make an abundance of money, so that we are able to provide extravagant funds to those who need them. Some are called to the mission fields to live among the poorest of the poor. No matter what He calls us to do, He equips us to complete our mission. The Spirit was upon Jesus enabling Him to complete His mission from God.

Read Luke 4:18  “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the bind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.”

4. He guides us to the will of God:  When David prayed, he asked God to teach him and lead him in the way of God, not simply the easiest way. No matter where Gods will leads us, we can trust Him to be with us every step of the way. We can learn Gods will for our lives as we learn more about Him through prayer and through His words in the bible.

Read Psalm 143:10  “Teach me to do your Your will, for you are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. “

Remember, you are never alone. The Spirit is always willing and able to help and guide you!

God's Peace Is Different From The World's peace

  People everywhere search for peace. They sing songs about it and travel on pilgrimages to find it. They even wage war to protect it. Many wealthy, famous, and powerful people would trade everything for just one moment of peace. What they often find, however, is the world’s false peace which is different from the peace offered by Jesus: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not  your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. (John 14:27) The peace offered by the world is an empty promise and can only bring temporary comfort. God’s peace is a permanent peace offered by the only One who can be trusted to keep his Word and heal our sin. The world’s peace is fleeting and changes with circumstances.  The book of Proverbs says that “wine is a mocker” and that “beer is a brawler” and that “whoever is led astray by them is not wise” (Proverbs 20:1). FEBRUARY 16, 2018|IN BLOG POST, 2018|BY RYAN RUFUS I’m sure you are familiar with Romans 6:14 “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace”. Recently I have been ministering to someone who grew up being taught this scripture in a very religious way which resulted in terrible depression, and more recently becoming very suicidal. He was taught that if you don’t have dominion over sin then you are not in God’s grace and are not saved. He was told if you died with sin in your life then you are going to hell. The religious angle which makes this so deceptive and destructive is that “sin won’t have dominion over you if you are in grace, therefore if sin is having dominion over you then you are not in grace.” This is absolutely not what this scripture is saying and to teach it like this is to bring bondage and death.
